 
| Medical Care for Nasal Polyps |

- If you have persistent difficulty breathing through your nasal passages, you should contact your local GP.
- If the medication you have been taking is ineffective or if the diagnosis is unknown you should notify an otolaryngologist (a doctor who treats diseases of the ears, nose and throat).
- If you are diagnosed with nasal polyps that may have resulted from asthma, allergies or cystic fibrosis, you should consider consulting with a Pulmonologist (a physician who treats and diagnosis lung conditions and diseases) as these diseases are often linked with pulmonary problems.
- A number of over medications may be used to treat Nasal Polyps such as:
- Steroids are used to treat inflammation
- Anti-inflammatories for pain
- Antibiotics to treat infections and kill bacteria

- After
Nasal Polyp surgery, a doctor may prescribe one or more of the following:
- Steroids used to treat inflammation
- Anti-inflammatories for pain
- Antibiotics to treat infections and kill bacteria
- Patients should have follow-up care with their doctor between a four and nine month period after their surgery. In the first three months, the doctor will examine your sinus cavities and remove any scarred tissue to ensure that it healings. In the months to follow, you should have regular checkups with your doctor to see if your nasal passages have completely healed, or if the nasal polyps have returned.
