Nasal Polyps is not a disease but the end product of constant inflammation that often results from colds and flu's, bacterial infections, allergies or from the over reaction of one's immune systems to fungus.
Nasal polyps develop from inflamed mucus membranes in one or more of your sinus cavities and nasal passages.
Sinus cavities are air spaces in the skull connected to the nose.
This Chronic inflammation causes the blood vessels found in the mucus membranes lining your nasal passages and sinus cavities to become more permeable (pass through) to liquid solutions and therefore allows plasma to collect under these membranes.
As more water collects under the mucus membranes, gravity begins to pull on these water filled tissues causing them to expand and develop into Nasal Polyps. |
