Nasal polyps may be present for years and if they are small and singular, may not cause any problems.

If your nasal polyps are not treated your symptoms will remain for an indefinite period, and you will have nasal polyps for as long as the underlying causes remain untreated.

If the nasal polyps grow large or many polyps start to form (due to inflammation of the mucus membranes caused by allergies, colds and flu's or a bacterial infection) this causes blockages to the nasal passages and sinus cavities.
